About Glue

GetGlue is an innovative social recommendation network for movies, books, and music. The GetGlue website provides a recommendation stream based on personal tastes, what friends like, and what’s most popular right now. The GetGlue browser addon brings filtered friend reviews, personal recommendations, and contextual content to popular sites around the web, such as Wikipedia, Amazon, IMDB, and hundreds more.

What It Tells You

Once you download the software – download it here – you will be able to see how many people have visited the same books, movies, and music as you are currently looking at.  The big number you will see on the left will tell you how many individual people have visited a book.  Each person only gets counted ONCE, so no one can flood the results.  While the number does not mean how many people actually bought the book, it does display how many people found the page.

It also allows you to quickly write a note about the book, movie or music.  Don’t want to write a full review?  Ok!  Just say loved it! or hated it!  (or anything else that comes to mind.)

You will also see the gravatars of the other people that have been to that page and can hover over then to see what they had to say.

One thing to remember, a lot of book sites are now incorporating this software into their sites in order to bring everyone together and create a huge community of book, movie and music lovers.

Shoppers – You will be able to see how many people like/dislike the book you are looking at, without having to visit each individual retail site.

Retailers – You can find stats on books you are considering adding to your shelves, based on how they are doing elsewhere.

Authors and Artists – You can easily measure how many unique people have visited your books and quickly read comments that appear with your book, without having to go from one site to another.

This is a screenshot of what the bar will look like while you are viewing individual books.  It is non-intrusive and gives you all the info you need!

If you click on the book in the bar, you will see all the comments people have made about the book at once (instead of just hovering over the gravatars).
